Transition to Mysore Workshop

 

This yoga workshop with Gingi Lee is aimed at transitioning students from the "led" Level 2 and 3 classes in to the Mysore "self practice" classes. For many students, the thought of making the transition in to the seemingly more advanced Mysore classes is daunting. In reality, the Mysore classes have people of all levels working at their own speed and pace – there is no prerequisite for joining these classes other than knowing the ashtanga (astanga) standing sequence which is taught in the Level 2 and 3 classes. The quietness and stillness of a self practice where you are in tune with your own breath and your own body, really allow you to embrace yoga as a moving meditation.

This workshop will demystify the Mysore experience and introduce you to this liberating way of practising. It is where the true yoga starts to blossom; listening to the breath, moving away from the judgements we make on ourselves and delving deep into the movement of the body in an individual practice.

The workshop will include an introduction to the theory, philosophy and application, of this powerful, life-changing practice. Students will explore how adjustments of postures are given and received during the sessions. A breakdown of the sequence will be given along with useful variations of postures in degrees of difficulties. The workshop will give you confidence to move in to the Mysore classes or develop a home practice and establish your own yoga practice where you can work to your own breath and explore yoga as a moving meditation.

Our yoga workshops are held at our beautiful studio in West Norwood, on the borders of West Dulwich in South London.



A workshop for students who would like to discover and develop an ashtanga Mysore style practice, where the focus is on the individual breath and body and on embracing yoga as a moving meditation.

This workshop will guide students in to our regular Mysore classes or to develop a home practice.

  • If you are 14+ weeks pregnant and have an established asthanga or vinyasa flow practice you may join this class – please discuss with the teacher as there are various modifications that you will need to make. 
  • You can join this class from 3+ months post-natally.

  • Purchases for workshops are non-refundable 
  • Cancellations may be made online up to 24-hours before the start of the workshop in which case your Shala account will be credited and you will be able to rebook for a workshop of a similar price
  • Late cancellations and no shows will be charged as if you had attended
  • In the event that a workshop is cancelled by the Shala you will be offered a refund or the option to be transferred to an alternative event
