About the Shala
The Shala was founded in 1998 as one of South London's first dedicated yoga centre. After 17 years in the Clapham area in January 2014, the Shala will be expanding and relocating to an an amazing newly-refurbished warehouse space in West Norwood, on the fringes of Dulwich. The new venue is 2 minues from West Norwood overground station and is easily accessible from South London's surrounding neighbourhoods, including Clapham, Balham, Brixton, Tulse Hill, Herne Hill, Dulwich, Crystal Palace, Forest Hill and Croydon. For more news about our new studio and class schedule, please sign up to receive our newsletter or join us on Facebook or Twitter.
The Shala is run by Gingi Lee – one of the most established ashtanga yoga teachers in the country. The centre has a strong sense of community with a loyal following of students. It is a place in which to enhance and develop physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Gingi and the Shala team of yoga teachers all share a deep love and respect for the yoga and have a passion for sharing their knowledge. They create a warm and supportive environment in which to explore and deepen your yoga practice. Shala classes are small with plenty of one-to-one guidance and an emphasis on encouraging students to develop an individual yoga practice.
The centre is also a hub for new life with classes for pregnant women offered by the inspiring Ingrid Lewis and new year will see an expanding schedule of family-friendly classes including mother & baby, kids yoga, and much more to come.
