Gingi Lee originally established the centre as a dedicated ashtanga yoga studio in 1998. It began life as the Sangam Yoga Centre on Battersea Rise and moved to Balham in 2007 where it has been renamed the Shala. This translates as a place of spiritual practice. For 10 years the centre has gained a loyal following among ashtanga practitioners. Over the years it has evolved and became a hub and community not just for ashtanga yogis but also for pregnant women, mothers and babies and kids. The continued presence of new life gives a special energy to the centre and brings the path of yoga full circle.

The Shala is now housed in a charming mews house in Balham; the oak-floored yoga room is small and intimate, with space for just 14 mats. Upstairs is a changing room, a bathroom and therapy room where we offer a range of holistic treatments.

Gingi LeeÕs vision and dedication to create a unique place to study yoga has resulted in The Shala, a place of peace and serenity where you can deepen your yoga practice.Ê
